A Tí

Also known as: A Ti

A Tí is a Los Angeles fine-dining taco pop-up run by chef Andrew Ponce and Anna Kawanishi, which won Best in Show at L.A. TACO's Taco Madness 2025 with a duck carnitas taco.

History

A Tí is a roving dinner series rather than a fixed restaurant. L.A. TACO reported in April 2024 that it had been running for about two years, once or twice a month, most recently in West Adams in a passageway behind a pasta restaurant. Chef Andrew Ponce was chef de cuisine at Bestia under Ori Menashe and later cooked at Taco María and at Onda in Santa Monica; he has classical French training and grew up in Culver City and Covina, the son of parents from Michoacán and Zacatecas. His partner Anna Kawanishi runs the front of house, writes the menus, designs the dining spaces and makes the tortillas.

Food

Kawanishi presses tortillas by hand from Kernel of Truth Organics masa, including blue corn. Menus described by L.A. TACO have included crispy pig ear chilaquiles, a grilled fish taco with koji guacamole salsa, duck confit in a date mole, an akami tuna tostada and scallop aguachile. At Taco Madness 2025, judges in a blind tasting gave A Tí Best in Show for a duck carnitas taco with fig mole and crema.
