Antojitos Mary

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Antojitos Mary is a family-run food stall in the Mercado La Acocota in Puebla known for lamb barbacoa in guasmole and tacos of raspaduras.

Overview

The stall sits in the La Acocota market at Calle 16 Norte 605 in Puebla. Writing for Texas Monthly in 2023, José R. Ralat reported that it is run by Maria Ximello, who took over the booth from her mother, with help from her sons Saul and Uziel Ximello.

The stall's barbacoa is made from lamb shank and served in guasmole de zancarrón, a broth flavored with guajes, the seeds of the leucaena tree. Corn tortillas are also served dressed with mole poblano, and the kitchen turns out a folded Puebla-style gordita filled with black bean puree and finished with red salsa, onion and cheese. Another specialty is the taco of raspaduras: shavings of beef fried with onion, chiles and epazote.
