Birrieria Apatzingan

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Birrieria Apatzingan is a small birriería on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Pacoima, Los Angeles, serving Michoacán-style goat birria.

Overview

Named after Apatzingán, a city in the Mexican state of Michoacán, the restaurant is a small dining room of about six tables in the northeast San Fernando Valley. It is included in The Infatuation's guide to the best birria in Los Angeles, which highlights its regional approach.

The goat is stewed until very tender in a broth seasoned with dried chiles, cumin and cinnamon, following Michoacán practice rather than the beef-and-cheese style common at Tijuana-inspired trucks. Warm handmade tortillas are served on the side so diners can build their own tacos from the meat. The restaurant is one of the few San Fernando Valley entries in The Infatuation's birria guide.
