Birrieria Nochistlan

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Birrieria Nochistlan is a family-owned birriería on East 4th Street in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, serving Zacatecas-style goat birria since 2003.

Overview

The restaurant is named after Nochistlán, a town in the Mexican state of Zacatecas. Time Out reports that the family business has served goat birria in Boyle Heights since 2003 and that its founder, Silverio Moreno, died in 2022; the family continues to run it. Payment is cash only.

The focus is goat birria in the Zacatecan tradition, served in its consomé with tortillas for making tacos. The restaurant appears in Time Out's list of the 33 best tacos in Los Angeles, one of several Eastside birrierías specializing in goat rather than the beef birria associated with Tijuana-style trucks.
