Bull Taco

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Bull Taco is a surf-themed North County San Diego taco business started in 2009 by Greg Lukasiewicz and his brother at a snack bar in the San Elijo campground, known for experimental fillings.

History

The first Bull Taco operated from a tiny snack bar at San Elijo State Beach's campground in Cardiff. San Diego Magazine reported in 2014 that its early menu included unusual tacos filled with foie gras, lobster, and uni with curry, and that lines grew to about 20 people deep, prompting the owners to simplify for volume. Greg Lukasiewicz, who had opened the French bistro Devon in Monrovia in 1996 and owned 11 restaurants, expanded the brand with locations tied to surf and skate figures: Bucky Lasek in Encinitas, Jay Adams in Oceanside and Nathan Fletcher in San Clemente. In spring 2014 the company was preparing to open a Leucadia shop at 101 North Coast Highway, next to Encinitas Surfboards, and had signed a deal for a space in Del Mar.

The Leucadia menu was announced with ostrich tacos, sashimi, ahi ceviche with truffle vinaigrette, steamed mussels and clams, grilled lobster and a lamb chop, with a self-serve craft beer wall. The company grew Trinidad Scorpion peppers on a farm in Bonsall.
