Chronic Tacos
Chronic Tacos is a fast-casual taco chain founded in Newport Beach in 2002 by Daniel Biello and Randy Wyner.
History
Biello and Wyner opened the first restaurant in Newport Beach in 2002. A second location opened in Huntington Beach in 2005, and franchising began in 2006 with a store in San Clemente. The chain reached Canada in 2010. In 2012 Michael Mohammed and Wyner took majority control and paused franchising until 2015, after which growth resumed; the first Japanese location opened in 2018, and by 2020 there were more than 60 restaurants in the United States, Canada and Japan.
Menu
The menu centers on tacos, burritos, tostada bowls and salad bowls, and also includes Mission-style and California burritos, carne asada fries and churros. A vegetarian protein was added in 2016, and a partnership with Beyond Meat in 2019 brought a vegan option.
