Ditroit

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería
Also known as: Ditroit Taqueria

Ditroit is a daytime taco window in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, a sibling of the restaurant Damian, associated with Mexican chef Enrique Olvera.

Overview

Ditroit operates from a window on Violet Street next to Damian. Time Out describes it as the casual counterpart of Enrique Olvera's cooking, the chef behind Pujol in Mexico City, and The Infatuation links Damian's kitchen to Pujol as well as to Cosme and Atla in New York. Masa for the tortillas is nixtamalized in house, and prices are higher than at a typical taco stand.

The best-known item is a fish flauta made with the daily catch, which earned the window a place in The Infatuation's guide to the best fish tacos in Los Angeles. Tacos include cochinita pibil and suadero made from brisket and top round. Aguas frescas use unusual combinations such as palo santo, cucumber and yuzu.
