El Lechoncito de Oro
El Lechoncito de Oro is a late-night street stand in Oaxaca City's historic center known for tacos and tortas of slow-cooked suckling pig with chicharrón.
Overview
The stand sets up on Calle de los Libres at the corner of Murguía, in the historic center. The Infatuation lists hours of 8 p.m. to 3 a.m., and Oaxaca Travel Tips reports that the business also has a permanent location in Santa Lucía del Camino, outside the center. Travesías noted that the stand has kept its street atmosphere since it opened, letting diners watch the life of the center while they eat.
In 2025 the food influencer Arturo Lemmen asked his followers where to find the best tacos in Oaxaca and received hundreds of recommendations for this stand, which drew new national attention to it. La Revista del Sureste reported that lines form early and the meat often sells out before midnight.
Menu
The specialty is lechón, young pig cooked slowly until the skin turns crisp. It is served as tacos, tostadas or tortas, and the taco with chicharrón is the standard order. Fresh tortillas are moistened with green salsa; La Revista del Sureste also mentions pickled chiles, grilled small onions, a hot red salsa and consomé.
