El Shabb

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

El Shabb is a tacos árabes taquería in the Santa Fe area of Mexico City that adds jocoque and za'atar to the Puebla-born style.

Overview

Chilango selected El Shabb, at Stim 1366 in Lomas del Chamizal, as the representative taquería for the Santa Fe, Interlomas and Cuajimalpa zone, calling it one of the best options for tacos árabes in the city. The meat is served with jocoque (a strained yogurt) and za'atar. Highlights include the shabb especial, served on pita bread with a crust of griddled cheese, and a dish the house calls the shabbwarma.

It keeps late hours on Thursday through Saturday nights.

Context

Tacos árabes, spit-roasted pork served in pan árabe, were created in Puebla by families of Middle Eastern descent. Chilango's 2023 feature En busca del taco más chilango chose one representative taquería for each of fifteen zones of the capital and its suburbs, favoring neighborhood spots over viral ones.
