El Tacote

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

El Tacote is a taquería in downtown Veracruz, near the bus station, that serves Mexico City-style tacos of suadero, tripa and lengua.

Overview

La Silla Rota placed El Tacote on Avenida Lafragua between Juan Enríquez and Altamirano in the city center, a few blocks from the central bus station. In 2021 the paper said it had been in business for thirteen years and had regular customers every day.

The style is chilango, meaning in the manner of Mexico City: suadero, tripa and lengua lead the menu, with longaniza, chuleta, bistec and al pastor also available. Suadero is a thin beef cut cooked slowly in fat.

The port of Veracruz and neighboring Boca del Río form a single metropolitan area whose taquerías range from market stalls and tacos de guisado to al pastor trompos and Veracruz-style pibil and barbacoa.
