HomeState

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

HomeState is a Tex-Mex taco restaurant in Los Angeles, founded in Los Feliz, with a larger second location in Highland Park, known for breakfast tacos, migas and Frito pie.

Overview

HomeState began in Los Feliz and opened its second restaurant at 5611 N. Figueroa Street in Highland Park. The Infatuation reviewed the Highland Park location in 2021, describing it as about twice the size of the original with a nearly identical menu.

The menu reflects Texas rather than Mexican taquería traditions. Its signatures are breakfast tacos filled with eggs, migas, the Tex-Mex scramble of eggs and fried tortilla strips, and Frito pie, chili spooned over corn chips. The restaurant is especially suited to breakfast and brunch. Breakfast tacos of this kind are a staple of Texas cities such as Austin and San Antonio, and HomeState's menu brings that tradition to Northeast Los Angeles.
