History

Jalisco Restaurant is located at 1605 Sixth Street in Coachella. A representative told Locale Magazine that it opened in 1980 and was the first Mexican restaurant in Coachella. Visit Greater Palm Springs, which also gives 1980 as the founding year, describes it as family-owned and says it has nearly tripled its seating capacity since opening.

Locale Magazine recommends the tacos de cabeza, made from steamed head meat such as cheek and tongue, and notes enchiladas and fajitas on the menu. Visit Greater Palm Springs highlights birria soup, tortas and micheladas. Locale also observes that it is a bit more expensive than the region's counter-service taquerías, reflecting its role as a sit-down family restaurant.
