Also known as: Kiko's Place

Kiko's Place Seafood is a Mexican seafood truck in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, with a second outlet downtown, known for battered fish tacos and a complimentary cup of fish broth.

History

The family recipes behind Kiko's are traced to the beach town of San Felipe, Baja California, in 1983. In San Diego the business became known as a truck parked on a Mission Valley street corner near Mission Center Road and Hazard Center Drive, with communal tables set up outside. A downtown shop was added later.

The main draw is the original fish taco: lightly battered white fish with cabbage, pico de gallo and a creamy sauce, with a mustard note in the batter. Shrimp tacos are the other staple. Each order comes with a free cup of consommé made with white fish and carrots, a custom common at Baja seafood stands. The truck runs a daily happy hour pairing fish tacos with a drink.
