From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

La Casa de Marcelo is a birria seller in Oaxaca City's Reforma area that offers birria tacos, quesabirrias and birria ramen in front of the owner's home.

Overview

Oaxaca Travel Tips lists the birria tacos at La Casa de Marcelo in the Reforma section of its 2026 guide. The business operates in front of the home of its owner, Marcelo, and sells only birria, the chile-stewed meat of western Mexico. Formats include tacos, quesabirrias (tacos with melted cheese, usually dipped in the broth), birria ramen and chilaquiles, and the meat can be bought by the kilo; esquites are also on offer. The guide gives no street address.

Context

Oaxaca de Juárez has its own taco culture built on local ingredients such as tasajo (thin salted beef), cecina enchilada (chile-rubbed pork), chorizo, quesillo and chile de agua, served alongside the tlayudas and memelas the state is known for. Street carts are not allowed to operate in the city on Wednesdays, although the rule is often relaxed on holidays.
