La Pezciosa

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería
Also known as: El Pescadito

La Pezciosa, formerly El Pescadito, is a fried seafood taco shop in Mexico City's Condesa neighborhood serving Sonoran-style fish and shrimp tacos.

Overview

According to The Infatuation, the Condesa shop at Atlixco 38 now trades as La Pezciosa after previously operating as El Pescadito. It serves fried fish and fried shrimp tacos and a chile relleno stuffed with cheese and topped with fried shrimp.

A 2019 Time Out México roundup, written when the shop was still known as El Pescadito, described its seafood tacos of marlin, shrimp or fish, most of them battered in the Sonoran manner and served on doubled tortillas because of the generous portions. Diners dress them with flavored mayonnaises, cabbage, onion and several house salsas, and the shop offered homemade agua de cebada (barley water).

Context

Battered fish tacos are associated with Mexico's northwest coast, especially Sonora and Baja California. Mexico City has thousands of taquerías, from sidewalk stands to sit-down restaurants, and food media such as Chilango, Time Out México and The Infatuation regularly compile guides to the ones locals return to.
