Las Guitarras Restaurant
Las Guitarras is a family-owned Mexican restaurant on Reichert Avenue in Novato that began in San Francisco's Mission District and opened in Novato in 1978.
History
According to a 2017 Hispanic Heritage Month article from the Shop Local Novato directory, Las Guitarras started in San Francisco's Mission District before the family that owns it opened in Novato in 1978. That history ties it to the Mission, the neighborhood most closely associated with Bay Area taquerías and the Mission-style burrito.
The article located the restaurant on Reichert Avenue, without a street number, and described it as a family dining spot with seating both indoors and on a patio.
Menu and community
The menu leans toward seafood, and margaritas are a feature of the bar. In September 2017 the restaurant planned a dine-and-donate day, giving the day's sales to a Red Cross chapter in Mexico. The sources consulted do not name the family members who run it, and no coverage from 2024 or later was found to confirm that it is still operating.
