Mariscos El Mazateño (Tijuana)
Mariscos El Mazateño is a seafood taquería on Calzada Tecnológico in Tijuana, known for tacos de camarón enchilado and its oversized Super Mazateña.
Overview
The restaurant stands at the corner of Calzada Tecnológico and Popotla in the Tomás Aquino area, near the Instituto Tecnológico de Tijuana. OC Weekly described it in 2013 as a morning-to-afternoon operation that opened at 7 a.m. and closed when the food ran out. Diners are greeted with a cup of consomé de camarón, a shrimp broth.
Menu
The taco list is short: battered fried snapper, octopus and shrimp, the last two offered plain or in chile. The shrimp in red chile sauce, or camarón enchilado, made the shop's reputation. The Super Mazateña, a large flour tortilla packed with chile-stewed shrimp and melted quesillo, is the most ordered dish. Tostadas, ceviches and seafood cocktails are also served, along with cahuamanta, a manta ray stew, and a tuna fin stew that sell out early. Tables carry salted cabbage, cream, pico de gallo, limes and hot sauces.
