Mariscos Mi Gusto Es

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Mariscos Mi Gusto Es is a Sinaloa-style seafood stand in San Diego's Chollas Creek area, ranked first on San Diego Magazine's 2025 list of the county's best tacos for its gobernador shrimp taco.

Overview

The business operates out of a large parking lot near an event center, an unglamorous setting that San Diego Magazine's Troy Johnson noted in placing it at the top of the magazine's 2025 ranking of forty local tacos. Its specialty is the taco gobernador, a dish associated with the state of Sinaloa in which shrimp are sautéed with peppers and onions and folded with melted cheese into a tortilla; here it is served on flour, and the magazine reported a price of about three dollars. The magazine also recommended ordering the shrimp prepared spicy.

Mariscos stands of this kind, serving seafood tacos, tostadas and cocteles from a truck or small counter, are a fixture of San Diego's border neighborhoods, where they follow the traditions of Sinaloa and Baja California rather than the Baja battered-fish style better known north of the city.
