Overview

Mother's Tacos is located at 3150 A Jefferson St. in Napa. Wine Spectator's Napa Valley Taco Tour called it the city's newest taco spot and noted that tortillas are made in house; it recommended a mushroom taco along with carne asada, suadero and pollo asado and a salsa macha, the oil-based sauce of dried chiles and nuts.

Concept

Visit Napa Valley's taco trail says the restaurant was inspired by mothers and by a trip to Mexico City and serves tacos in the style of a Mexico City market taquería. The tourism bureau highlights slow-cooked suadero, chicharrón and a carne asada mulita, two tortillas sandwiched with meat and melted cheese.

Context

Suadero, a thin cut of beef confited until tender, is the signature taco of Mexico City street stands and remains relatively rare in Northern California.
