Nopalito
Nopalito is a regional Mexican restaurant on Broderick Street in San Francisco's NoPa neighborhood, known for its house-made tortillas and tacos árabes.
Overview
Nopalito is a sit-down restaurant rather than a taquería, cooking regional Mexican dishes with an emphasis on scratch-made masa. Its tacos are a regular presence on San Francisco taco lists despite the restaurant format.
In the San Francisco Standard's 2025 survey of local chefs, the chef of Dalida described herself as a regular and recommended the taco árabe, made with marinated pork wrapped in a house-made flour tortilla.
Taco árabe
Tacos árabes come from Puebla, where Lebanese and other Middle Eastern immigrants in the early 20th century adapted shawarma-style spit roasting to local ingredients. The style uses pork and a thin pita-like flour tortilla and is considered a forerunner of al pastor.
