Oscar's Mexican Seafood

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Oscar's Mexican Seafood is a Baja-style seafood taco shop founded in 2011 in Pacific Beach, San Diego, by Tijuana native Juan Bernardo Montes de Oca.

History

Oscar's grew out of a food truck. Founder Juan Bernardo Montes de Oca, who comes from Tijuana, opened the original Pacific Beach shop in 2011 in a small storefront on Emerald Street painted with a deep-sea mural. The business later added other locations in San Diego.

Food is served on red plastic trays, with names called out at the counter. The best-known order is the taco especial, which combines smoked fish, shrimp and scallops in one tortilla. The atún adobado taco treats tuna like al pastor, marinating it and topping it with pineapple. The menu also includes ceviche served in cups and the torta de Oscar, filled with spicy shrimp, skirt steak and smoked fish.
