Papasotes

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Papasotes is a taco shop in North Park, San Diego, located next to the Belching Beaver Brewery tasting room and known for carne asada and shrimp tacos.

Overview

Papasotes occupies a spot beside the Belching Beaver tasting room in North Park, a neighborhood known for its concentration of craft breweries, and its menu suits that setting. San Diego Magazine included it on its 2025 list of the forty best tacos in the county and recommended the carne asada and shrimp tacos.

Alongside tacos the shop sells food associated with late-night eating on both sides of the border: bacon-wrapped hot dogs in the style of Tijuana and Sonora street carts, nachos and loaded baked potatoes. Carne asada, grilled marinated beef chopped and served on corn tortillas with onion, cilantro and salsa, is the backbone of the San Diego taco shop menu, and Papasotes' version was one of the dishes the magazine singled out.
