Ricos Tacos de Mixiote is a family business in Puebla that sells Hidalgo-style mixiote tacos from several stands around the city.

History

According to Revista 360 Grados, the business was started by the Martínez brothers and had been in Puebla for eleven years when the magazine visited in 2021. Alonso Martínez spoke for the family. Stands were listed on Calle 13 Sur between 31 and 27 Poniente, on Avenida San Claudio, at the corner of 25 Poniente and 13 Sur, and across from a Toyota used-car lot in Angelópolis.

The tacos follow the style of Hidalgo; mixiote is meat seasoned with chile and steamed in a wrapper. Here the tortillas and the mixiote are heated together in a steamer. Toppings include lime, salsa verde, habanero with onion and nopales, along with two garnishes the vendors call escarcha and pasto. The magazine recommended ordering the taco with all of them.
