Overview

KQED's Bay Area Bites included Ruby's in a July 2017 guide to six favorite taco spots south of San Francisco, describing it as a family-run business. It was open daily from morning into the evening at the time.

Vampiros

The specialty is the vampiro, a taco style from northern Mexico in which a tortilla is toasted until crisp and covered in melted cheese before the filling is added. At Ruby's the crisp tortilla is topped with melted Monterey Jack, the diner's choice of meat, guacamole sauce and a spicy red salsa; KQED recommended carnitas or al pastor as fillings.
