Soho Taco

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Soho Taco is an Orange County taco business that began as a lonchera and became known for a shrimp taco built on a masa base with melted cheese.

Overview

Soho Taco started as a food truck and built a following during the Southern California gourmet truck boom of the late 2000s and early 2010s. In 2011 Gustavo Arellano placed its signature taco second on OC Weekly's list of ten great tacos in the county, noting it had been voted the fifth-favorite dish in Orange County that year. In 2012 the Orange County Register's fast-food columnist Nancy Luna also named Soho her pick for best taco. The 2015 OC Weekly taco guide, which grouped it with other Santa Ana entries, described its beginnings as a lonchera.

The best-known item, listed in 2015, is a shrimp taco set on a masa base with melted cheese. In 2011 Arellano's pick was simply listed as any Soho taco, a nod to the consistency of the whole menu.
