Overview

Deborah Schneider is a chef and cookbook author long associated with Baja California and Mexican coastal cooking, and Sol Cocina in Newport Beach is her flagship. Solita, its sister outlet, opened on Edinger Avenue in Huntington Beach. OC Weekly's 2015 county taco guide described a menu of corn tortilla tacos with thirteen fillings, both meat and meatless, some cooked on a wood grill.

Wood grilling gives the meats and vegetables a smoky flavor associated with the carne asada and pescado zarandeado traditions of northern and Pacific Mexico. The menu's range of fillings reflects Schneider's interest in Baja-style seafood as well as vegetarian options suited to coastal Orange County diners.
