Taco Temple

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Taco Temple is a California-Mexican fusion restaurant in Morro Bay, California, that began in Cayucos in 1998 and is known for seafood-heavy tacos, burritos and a surf-shack atmosphere.

History

Taco Temple opened in Cayucos in 1998 and moved to Morro Bay in the early 2000s. Its owners include Jack and Deborah Franklin, Gretchen Ross and Michael Foster, and Jimmy Leage. In 2018 they bought the former Margie's Diner on Calle Joaquin in San Luis Obispo, and a second Taco Temple opened there in 2019. The San Luis Obispo Tribune reported that the SLO branch closed permanently at the end of 2023 because lunch business never returned to pre-pandemic levels, while the Morro Bay original on North Main Street remained open.

The restaurant describes its food as California fusion. It serves tacos, burritos and tostadas with homemade chips and salsa, and its carrot cake is a local favorite.
