Tacos 1986

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Tacos 1986 is a Tijuana-style taquería chain in Los Angeles, with its best-known shop on South Spring Street downtown, known for mesquite-grilled carne asada.

Overview

Tacos 1986 serves the style of taco associated with Tijuana: meats cooked over mesquite, corn or flour tortillas, and toppings such as guacamole and salsa roja applied by the taquero. The Infatuation, reviewing the Downtown shop, noted that the business had expanded rapidly and counted five locations across Los Angeles, including one on Beverly Boulevard in Beverly Grove.

Carne asada is the core item. A frequently ordered item that is not on the printed menu is El Perrón, a flour tortilla lined with a crisp layer of griddled cheese and filled with carne asada, beans, guacamole, onion, cilantro and red salsa. The Infatuation's assessments of individual branches have varied, with its review of a Beverly Grove location less favorable than its Downtown review.
