Overview

Where The Road Forks lists this stand at Guadalupe Victoria 20, opposite the Mercado Hidalgo, and says it uses a family recipe. It opens before dawn, at 4 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. on weekends, closes at 2 p.m., and often sells out earlier.

Context

Tijuana's taquerías are known for adobada carved from the trompo, carne asada with guacamole, and birria, and many stay open late. The blocks around the Mercado Hidalgo hold several breakfast birria stands. Birria consomé, the meat's cooking broth, is served in a cup for sipping or dipping.
