Tacos El Cabrón

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Tacos El Cabrón is a late-night taquería on Fourth Avenue in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter, offering about a dozen tacos that can each be turned into a quesataco.

Overview

The shop is at 532 Fourth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter, downtown San Diego's nightlife district. The San Diego Reader included it in its 2019 taco issue, noting that it stayed open until 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights to catch the bar crowd. The name is Mexican slang that roughly translates as a tough or bold guy, and the namesake taco is the house signature.

The board lists close to a dozen tacos. The Reader mentioned the camarón enchilado, shrimp in a spicy red chile sauce, and the El Cabrón taco. For a small extra charge any taco can be ordered as a quesataco, with cheese melted onto the tortilla on the griddle so it forms a crisp, gooey layer under the filling, a style associated with Tijuana's taco stands.
