Tacos El Chino

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Tacos El Chino is a taquería in Puebla's historic center that roasts its tacos árabes on a charcoal-fired trompo.

Overview

The taquería is at 4 Sur 708 in the Centro Histórico. In 2021 Revista 360 Grados reported that its owner, Rafael González, had 32 years in the business, and that his son cuts the meat from the spit. Marinating begins at seven in the morning and service starts at noon.

El Chino specializes in tacos árabes: pork marinated and roasted on a vertical spit over charcoal, then sliced and wrapped in pan árabe, the flatbread that Lebanese immigrants introduced to Puebla. The magazine recommended them with chipotle salsa, the usual partner for the style in the city.

Small family taquerías like El Chino sell the style alongside the city's older and larger tacos árabes houses.
