Tacos El Compa Taqueria
Tacos El Compa Taqueria is a taquería on Blossom Hill Road in the Cambrian Park area of South San José, known for handmade corn tortillas and crispy carnitas.
Overview
KQED's Bay Area Bites described the restaurant in 2017 as an unassuming taquería in the suburbs of South San José, and Hoodline listed it among San José's top Mexican restaurants in 2020.
Menu
Corn tortillas are made by hand and served warm. KQED recommended the carnitas, which are cooked until crisp. The house specialty is the El Jefe taco: two tortillas coated in cheese and grilled until crunchy, then topped with meat, sour cream and cilantro, so that the cheese itself forms a crisp shell. Compa is Mexican slang for a close friend or buddy.
