Overview

La Silla Rota placed Tacos El Indio at the corner of Avenida Independencia and Avenida Benito Juárez in the center of Boca del Río and said in 2021 that it had been operating for more than two decades. The barbacoa is prepared in Medellín, a neighboring municipality, and brought in each day. The taquería serves through the morning and fills up quickly, so both La Silla Rota and Jarochos en Línea advised arriving early.

The main draw is barbacoa de res in the Veracruz style, served in tacos with a cup of consomé; La Silla Rota's 2022 list also mentions consomé de cabeza de res and a daily offer that includes pineapple juice. Jarochos en Línea adds al pastor and carnitas, and notes chicharrón sold to take away; La Silla Rota mentions that chicharrón can also be bought at nearby butcher shops.

The port of Veracruz and neighboring Boca del Río form a single metropolitan area whose taquerías range from market stalls and tacos de guisado to al pastor trompos and Veracruz-style pibil and barbacoa.
