Overview

A 2008 post on the blog Guía Gastronómica Hermosillense described Tacos del Muñeco as a long-standing cart on Pino Suárez, beside the Hotel Kino and at the foot of the Cerro de la Campana, run by a taquero known as Muñeco and his son. It opened early and closed around noon or 1 p.m. In 2024 Diario del Yaqui listed Tacos "El Muñeco" at Felipe Salido 26 in the Centro among five Hermosillo taquerías chosen by artificial intelligence. The sources do not give the taquero's real name or a founding date, and it is not certain that both refer to the same business.

The blog singled out the tacos of cabeza and chicharrón and also listed barbacoa, campechanos, bean tacos and tortas of cabeza and chicharrón.

Hermosillo is closely identified with carne asada, beef grilled over charcoal and often served on flour tortillas, though its taquerías also sell cabeza, barbacoa and other morning tacos.
