Tacos El Paisa y Mariscos
Tacos El Paisa y Mariscos is a seafood and taco truck that has parked on Iris Avenue in San Diego's South Bay, near the Iris Avenue trolley station.
Overview
The truck was documented in 2011 by the San Diego food blog mmm-yoso, which found it at the far end of a parking lot near the Iris Avenue stop on the San Diego Trolley's Blue Line, a few miles north of the San Ysidro border crossing. The blogger had learned of it from another local food writer, who had noted that the truck once garnished its fish tacos with lettuce, unusual for the style; by 2011 it had switched to the standard cabbage.
Menu
The blog's visit covered a cup of shrimp consommé, a combined shrimp and fish taco and a shrimp taco built from several large battered pieces, finished with a light crema. Paisa is a common Mexican term for a fellow countryman or someone from the provinces, and the name is shared by many taquerías on both sides of the border.
