Tacos La Central

Tacos La Central is a Tijuana-style taquería on North Mount Vernon Avenue in Colton, California, opened in 2016 in the former home of the long-running Original El Burrito #1.

History

Tacos La Central is located at 920 North Mount Vernon Avenue in Colton, in San Bernardino County. According to the food writers behind Eat the World LA, it occupies the building of Original El Burrito #1, a Colton institution that began as a burger, hot dog and milkshake stand, switched to a Mexican menu in 1957, and closed for good in late 2015 after 58 years. Tacos La Central opened in late June 2016.

Food

The shop advertises its food as 'verdadero estilo Tijuana,' true Tijuana style; one of its co-owners has family roots in Tijuana, where the family's restaurant supplies the recipes. In 2019 the menu offered tacos of adobada, asada, chicken and chorizo, plus mulitas, in which the filling and cheese are sandwiched between two grilled tortillas. The restaurant does not serve alcohol and has an outdoor picnic area and private parking. The most recent source reviewed dates from 2019, so current operations are unconfirmed.
