Tacos Quetzalcoatl

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Tacos Quetzalcoatl is a Los Angeles street vendor known for lamb barbacoa cooked with agave leaves and for vegetarian tacos made with wild Mexican greens.

Overview

LAist reported in 2015 that the vendor worked near East Olympic Boulevard and South Kern Avenue in East Los Angeles on weekends and near Central Avenue and 8th Street Downtown on weekdays. Its locations and current status have not been confirmed by more recent sources.

The signature is lamb barbacoa, slow-cooked and wrapped in agave (maguey) leaves in the traditional central Mexican manner. LAist also highlighted vegetarian fillings built on quelites, wild greens such as huauzontles and quintoniles that are common in central Mexico but rarely found at Los Angeles taco stands. Its greens-based fillings made it one of the few vegetarian-friendly entries on LAist's 2015 list.
