Tacos Soloma

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Tacos Soloma is a mesquite-fired street taco stand in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, that sets up in front of an auto transmission shop at Lankershim Boulevard and Vanowen Street.

Overview

Soloma cooks its meats over mesquite charcoal, which sets it apart from the flat-top griddles used at many San Fernando Valley stands. L.A. TACO included it in a 2019 roundup of the Valley's best street tacos, noting that its carne asada is cut thick, closer to a piece of steak than the finely chopped beef found at most taco stands.

Beyond the asada, the stand's al pastor drew praise, and the writer reserved the strongest words for its taco de tripa, calling it the best tripas they had eaten. The stand's location in front of Advance Transmission on Lankershim makes it a fixture for drivers along one of North Hollywood's main corridors. As with other curbside stands, it is worth confirming that it is operating before making a special trip.
