Tacotarian is a plant-based taco restaurant from Las Vegas with a location in North Park, San Diego, known for its battered avocado Baja taco.

Overview

Tacotarian began in Las Vegas and brought its all-vegetable taco concept to North Park, a San Diego neighborhood known for its bars and restaurants. San Diego Magazine placed it on its 2025 list of the county's forty best tacos, noting that its fillings are built from seitan, Beyond beef, Gardein chicken, jackfruit, potatoes and beans, and also praising its horchata. The magazine warned that parking nearby is difficult.

Menu

The recommended order is the Baja taco, which adapts the fried fish taco by substituting beer-battered avocado and topping it with a cilantro-lime dressing, slaw, guacamole, pico de gallo and chile mayonnaise. Jackfruit, which shreds much like cooked pork, is a common stand-in for carnitas and other braised meats in vegan cooking. Horchata, a sweet rice and cinnamon drink, is the traditional accompaniment to spicy tacos.
