Ta'cul

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Ta'cul is a small taco restaurant on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach, San Diego, run by German and Melissa Feuchter and known for its spicy octopus taco.

Overview

Ta'cul occupies a modest strip-mall space at 2015 Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach, set apart from the neighborhood's college bar scene. It is the first restaurant from German Feuchter and his wife, Melissa. San Diego Magazine, which featured it in its Very Important Taco column in 2018, described German as a hands-on owner who greets customers, explains the menu, takes orders and cooks.

The spicy octopus taco starts with cheese grilled on the flattop until it forms a browned, crepe-like sheet, which is laid on a corn tortilla. Medallions of grilled octopus are tossed with bell pepper, garlic, onion and hot sauce and piled on top. The magazine named the birria taco and the gobernador, a Sinaloan shrimp-and-cheese taco, as close rivals for the best dish on the menu.
