Taquería El Gran Abanico

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería
Also known as: El Gran Abanico

Taquería El Gran Abanico is a two-level carnitas taquería in the Tránsito neighborhood of Mexico City, known for long, fast-moving lines.

Overview

El Gran Abanico entered the Michelin Guide's recommended list in 2025 and remained there in 2026. Chilango notes that it fills as soon as it opens, especially on weekends, and Michelin describes lines stretching down the block that move quickly. The space is split over two levels and is air-conditioned; payment is cash only.

Carnitas in the Michoacán style are the draw, offered as maciza, surtida, cueritos or costilla and piled onto double corn tortillas. A bone-in beef rib, tender and well seasoned, is the other standout. The menu also includes grilled tacos and house salsas, and portions are generous for the price.
