History

According to a 2015 Santa Barbara Independent taco survey, La Colmena was run by Alvaro Abrego and Jesus Gonzales and occupied a building that had previously housed Pavlako's, a Greek restaurant. The business also offered street-style taco catering at the time.

The Independent described tacos priced at a little over two dollars and a salsa bar whose peanut and avocado salsas stood out. Beyond the standard grilled meats, the menu included lomito, tripas and hígado de res (beef liver). Because the main source is from 2015, current ownership and menu details may differ.
