Taqueria La Cumbre

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Taqueria La Cumbre is a Valencia Street taquería in San Francisco's Mission District that has operated for more than four decades.

Overview

La Cumbre is one of the long-running taquerías of the Mission, in business for more than 40 years according to the San Francisco Standard. It is a counter-service shop with an open salsa bar stocked with green tomatillo salsa.

In the Standard's 2025 survey of restaurant professionals, a San Francisco restaurateur who had eaten there since high school picked it as her favorite, recommending the garlic prawn super taco, the pollo asado super taco and the super fajita vegetable taco.

Like other old-guard Mission taquerías, La Cumbre offers "super" versions of its tacos, which add cheese, sour cream and avocado to the standard filling of meat, onion and cilantro. Seafood, grilled chicken and vegetable options sit alongside the usual beef and pork.
