Taqueria Los Caporales
Taqueria Los Caporales is a taquería on Railroad Avenue in Livermore that a San Francisco Chronicle survey of Tri-Valley taquerías named best crispy taco and best salsa bar.
Overview
The taquería was one of ten included in Nicholas Boer's San Francisco Chronicle guide to the tacos of Livermore and Pleasanton, published around 2014. Boer gave it two category awards: best crispy taco and best salsa bar. It also served Modelo beer on draft. Like most places in the survey, it was open daily for lunch and dinner, with tacos priced between two and three dollars.
Crispy tacos
The crispy taco is a distinct tradition from the soft street taco: a corn tortilla is filled and then fried, or fried into a shell and then filled, giving a crunchy exterior. The Chronicle survey judged Los Caporales's version the best among the Tri-Valley entrants. Caporales is the Spanish word for ranch foremen. Details come from the 2014-era review and may have changed.
