Teddy's Red Tacos

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Teddy's Red Tacos is a Los Angeles birria business, begun as a truck on East Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles, that specializes in Tijuana-style beef birria.

History

The original operation is a truck at 731 East Slauson Avenue, which The Infatuation describes as parked beside disused railroad tracks. Time Out identifies the taquero behind it as Teddy Vasquez and notes how quickly the brand grew both on the street and on social media. By the time of this article the company listed storefronts in Downey, Echo Park, Mid-City, South Gate, Venice Beach and near LAX on Imperial Highway, plus a second truck in Whittier.

Beef birria is effectively the only filling. It is served as tacos dipped in the red braising liquid and crisped on the plancha, as quesatacos, mulitas, tostadas, vampiros, tortas and burritos, and even with ramen, always with a cup of consomé for dipping. The Infatuation notes a deluxe plate that bundles several formats together and that the original truck accepts cash only.
