Tire Shop Taqueria

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería
Also known as: Taquería San Miguel

Tire Shop Taqueria, officially Taquería San Miguel, is a takeout-only taco stand in the parking lot of a used-tire shop on South Avalon Boulevard in Historic South Central, Los Angeles.

Overview

The stand takes its popular name from its setting beside a tire store. The Infatuation notes that its official name is Taquería San Miguel and describes a series of tents, each handling one task: pressing corn tortillas by hand, grilling carne asada, chopping chorizo and adding toppings. Time Out groups it with Tacos Los Poblanos, a Tijuana-style stand further down Avalon Boulevard.

Carne asada is the main draw, served in tacos, quesadillas and mulitas; LosAngeles.com also lists the stand for suadero. Chorizo tacos are the other staple, and the tacos are finished with an avocado salsa. Drinks include horchata and aguas frescas. The stand appears in Time Out's list of the best tacos in Los Angeles and in The Infatuation's guide to South Los Angeles restaurants.
