Arturo el Amigo
Arturo el Amigo is a barbacoa taquería on Avenida Plan de San Luis in Guadalajara, with branches that include the former Nuevo León stand on Calzada Independencia.
Overview
Arturo el Amigo's main location is at Avenida Plan de San Luis 1522, at the corner of Enrique Díaz de León, in Mezquitán Country. El Diario de un Tragón describes it as a long-standing reference point for the area. A second branch operates at José María Vigil 1874.
The business also took over the stand formerly known as Nuevo León, at Calzada Independencia 1018 and Sierra Morena in Colonia Independencia. That stand is often ranked among the city's best tacos, and El Diario de un Tragón recommends its avocado salsa.
Menu
Barbacoa is the main reason to visit. The menu also offers bistec, chorizo, tripa, cabeza and carnaza.
In Guadalajara, barbacoa is usually braised with chiles and tomatoes, then crisped on the comal between two corn tortillas, and is mostly eaten at breakfast.
