Asadero Chikali

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Asadero Chikali is a family-run Mexicali-style taco business that began as a food truck on South Atlantic Boulevard in East Los Angeles and later opened a restaurant in Inglewood.

History

Asadero Chikali first built its following as a truck serving breakfast tacos in East Los Angeles. Time Out describes it as family-run. The business later opened a brick-and-mortar taquería with table seating on West Century Boulevard in Inglewood, open from breakfast through dinner.

Its focus is the tacos de guisado of Mexicali, stews such as papa con chorizo, chicharrón in salsa verde, carne con chile and shredded beef, spooned into hand-rolled flour tortillas. The truck also grills norteño-style carne asada over mesquite and makes cheesy vampiros on toasted corn tortillas. The Inglewood restaurant offers a sampler of six guisados with beans and tortillas and a self-serve salsa bar.
