Birriería La Victoria

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería
Also known as: Birriería 2da Victoria

Birriería La Victoria is a goat birria restaurant facing the Mercado Santa Tere in Guadalajara, open since 1948.

Overview

La Victoria is at Calle Manuel Acuña 1511, across the street from the Mercado Santa Teresita, in the working-class barrio known as Santa Tere. Travel guides date it to 1948. The walls are covered with framed newspapers recording historical events since it opened. It mostly serves neighborhood regulars, and Google Maps lists it as Birriería 2da Victoria.

It was a stop on a Santa Tere food tour described by the blog mmm-yoso in July 2024.

The house dish is birria de chivo (goat). Tacos de birria can be ordered bañados, soaked in consommé, or the broth can be poured or dipped at the table. The mmm-yoso tour noted the meat's gamey, well-spiced character and smoky broth.

Will Fly for Food listed its hours as 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily during a 2022 visit.
