Colonia Taco Lounge

From WikiTacos, the taco encyclopedia · Taquería

Colonia Taco Lounge is a La Puente taco shop from the people behind Guisados, known for large handmade corn tortillas and inventive fillings.

Overview

Colonia Taco Lounge was at 13030 Valley Boulevard in La Puente when Clarissa Wei included it in a 2015 PBS SoCal list of Mexican restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. The article said it was run by the team behind Guisados, the Los Angeles stewed-taco chain, and praised its large, handmade corn tortillas as the best in the area.

Rather than sticking to the guisado format, the menu at the time included a shrimp taco with coconut and ají sauce and a deep-fried cauliflower taco with crema and caper salsa. Taco Tuesday was a featured event, with discounted tacos.

A later shop called Colonia Tacos Guisados operates on Whittier Boulevard in Whittier; the sources consulted do not say whether it is connected to or replaced the La Puente location. No 2024 or later coverage was found to confirm whether the La Puente shop is still open.
